Speargun bags

These are used for either taking your guns abroad or for general transportation.  They stop them getting scratched and worn over simply just throwing them in the back of a car at the end of the day.  The cheaper models are perfect for local transportation.  The thick, durable material protects the aesthetics and keeps the rubber bands out of the sun prolonging their life.

For international travel you need something more heavy duty and padded like the Rob Allen Tanker spearfishing bag. It also has a special storage section for extra spears.  We have used these extensively and never had a problem with damaged or bent spears etc.  It can fit 3 – 5 spearguns depending on what brands you own.

Sportube hard cases are now a really popular and affordable option too, for both transportation and travel. Made from high density polyethylene, these cases are lockable, durable and padded – absolutely essential for protecting your gear from bumps, scrapes and over-enthusiastic baggage handlers.

Spearfishing dive bags / kit bags

The lighter duty versions are largely used for easy transportation between dive sites and home while keeping your car smelling fresh and fish free.  It’s also helpful for keeping the sand and general muck off your car’s fabric while just making life a little bit easier when lugging it all back into the garage.

The heavy duty, padded, Rob Allen style tanker dive bag is suitable for both international and local travel.  The big feature we really love about this particular bag is the separate fin compartment (easily holds two sets).

People spend over £300 on a lovely set of carbon blades then let them get scratched to high heaven in the back of the car. The bag separates them off from all your other gear, keeping them free from scratches and bends.

There is also a top compartment for your smaller items like mask, dive watch etc.  We tend to use this bag all year round for our trips and local dives. A really handy piece of kit that you tend not to appreciate until you’ve owned one.
