The KOAH Euro Standard is an enclosed track Teak speargun outfitted to take down anything in its reach. Slim, sleek, and weight ballasted this speargun is sure to set the bar in performance. Equipped with 7.1mm  poured enclosed track , two 16mm bands, reverse trigger mechanism for an additional two inches of band stretch and an aggressive rake (angle) handle to even out the weight of having the entire stock in front of you. The muzzle and side channels were designed to pull the inner band close to the shaft, down the length of the speargun to create lateral band pull which greatly reduces recoil. Guns are measured from front of Trigger mechanism to tip of muzzle.

Total stock (from gun butt to tip of muzzle) is as follows… 90cm has 44″ stock, 100cm has 48″ stock,  110cm has 52″ stock, 120cm has 56″ stock, 130cm has 60″ stock and 140cm has 64″ stock.

The Rubber is pure latex made by Primeline USA – this is the gold standard for speargun rubber providing the most power and longevity for any bands of this style. This is the same rubber used on Riffe, Rob Allen, Pathos and Sigalsub guns amongst many others.

Why Wood?

Wood is the perfect material for a speargun, it is strong and heavy but buoyant in the water. The mass and weight of the gun absorbs most of the recoil and makes your shots more accurate, but because the wood is more buoyant the gun feels almost weightless in the water making it a lot more maneuverable than most aluminium or carbon spearguns.

The wood can also take a lot of abuse and punishment and can be restored and repaired easier, it also means you have less parts that corrode and need to be replaced over time.

Why Teak?

Teak is famous hardwood renowned for its strength and commonly used in luxurious furniture and boat building. Teak is naturally oily and expels water, one of very few types of wood that rejects water naturally and is considered the best hardwood for use in marine environments, requiring no coating and prefers salt water to fresh water. Fresh water is the number one enemy for most woods as it causes rot, however because of the oily nature of teak it is perfectly suited in salt water and only requires a bit of teak oil once a year to refresh its colour and finish as it goes paler over time.

Teak has a straight grain which makes it much stronger than other hardwoods like Mahogany and is preferred for use in boatbuilding and spearguns because of this. The straight grain makes the wood easier to refinish and sand and requires less work than other hardwoods.

Why Laminated ?

The Koah EURO is made from 3 sections of Teak laminated together, this is to have the grain running in opposite directions creating the strongest possible setup to reduce flex.

When you use a single section of wood for a speargun it has less rigidity, it can flex easier and warp and imperfections can also propagate easier and damage the stock. When you cut the wood down into sections to laminate you can stop any imperfections or damage from propagating into the other sections and by gluing the wood together it adds a much stronger bond than the wood itself.
