Spearfishing UK Breakaway Bungee, made with 300kg Sigalsub Pure Dyneema, 9mm rubber bungee and heavy duty Rob Allen Snap Swivel Clip.
Breakaway bungees are used to tether the shooting line to your floatline or bungee by sitting on the line release. This gives your shooting line the chance to explode out fully when releasing the spear and then letting the floatline or bungee do the work of slowing the fish down.
Used for blue water hunting with bungee float line and pressurized floats targeting large pelagic fish like Wahoo and Tuna. Also useful when reef hunting to give extra security in case a bigger fish comes by instead of using a reel.
By having the gun disconnect from the shooting line it means you aren’t going to lose the gun when the fish pulls it to the depths and tangles the line. You simply swim to the surface, gun in hand and let the floats and line do the work of securing and tiring out the fish which is much safer and easier to reload in comparison to a reel.
How does it work
Your shooting line is connected to the loop furthest away from you, the rear loop sits on the line release with the longer end connected to the swivel coming out to the side with your floatline attached.
